The Casa Grande Police Department in a news release say they arrested Martha Lopez, 31, and Tanis Luna Solis, 30, for their connection to a large amount of fentanyl that was found during a traffic stop on Monday around 5:40 p.m.

Officers, along with K9 units, did a traffic stop near a highway in Casa Grande, Arizona. They stopped a black SUV for speeding which Lopez was driving. Solis was a passenger, along with two juveniles. The K9 officer and his handler discovered 500,000 fentanyl pills in collagen supplement bottles along with a gun and money, CSPD says.

“The transport and sale of drugs in our community affects us all. It is hard to quantify the number of lives this investigation has saved, but I am sure we are making a difference. Our Officers are combating this issue daily and I commend their efforts, especially knowing our K9 who was recently bitten by a rattlesnake is already back in full service,” said City of Casa Grande Police Chief Mark McCrory in a news release.

KNXV says the two juveniles were taken into the custody of the Arizona Department of Child Services.

Lopez and Solis have been booked on recommended charges including possession, transportation, importation of narcotic drugs for sale, weapons misconduct, and child endangerment, according to KSAZ.
