The Year in Music 2024: Cher finally gets into the Rock & Roll Hall of Fame

In late 2023, Cher said on The Kelly Clarkson Show that she didn't understand why she hadn't been inducted into the Rock & Roll Hall of Fame yet. Having been eligible since 1990, she contended that at that point she wouldn't be interested in being in it "if they gave me a million dollars." But before another year had gone by, she was a newly minted Rock & Roll Hall of Fame inductee.

You can watch Cher's induction and performance Jan. 1  at 8 p.m. ET on ABC's 2024 Rock & Roll Hall of Fame Induction Ceremony special, featuring highlights of the October ceremony. It'll also be available the next day on Hulu and Disney+.

Also in October, Cher headlined the first Victoria's Secret Fashion Show since 2018, singing "Strong Enough" and "Believe."

In November, Cher debuted her long-awaited autobiography, Cher: The Memoir — Part One, which covers her childhood through the start of her acting career. It was chock-full of tales of her outrageous life: her difficult childhood; her ups and downs with men, including her two late ex-husbands, Sonny Bono and Gregg Allman; and, of course, her music career. It allowed Cher to add "New York Times bestselling author" to her extensive resume; Part Two is due in 2025.
