During the radio heydays of the 80’s and 90’s, Robin was on the airwaves here in San Antonio, long before catapulting to major Texas markets in Houston and in Dallas. He returned to San Antonio in 2001. “I got back as soon as I could, and it feels like I’m home now!”
“I was here playing KONO songs when they first came out in San Antonio, so I’ve come full circle” he says smiling.
Robin states that during this time of the Covid Pandemic, “keeping KONO listener’s informed is essential” but that the Morning Show also brings positivity by getting lost in a little fun.
Robin has been LIVE and local in the studio every morning keeping KONO listener’s informed and up to date as well as sharing positive stories with Robin’s ‘Feel Good Story of the Day’! To prepare for the show, Robin starts the day at 3am “I can’t wait to come to work!... and being able to wear jogging suits to the office has nothing to do with it!!” quips Robin as he chuckles. He loves sharing and talking with KONO listeners on what’s trending for the day/week as well as playing ‘Smarter than a 5th Grader’ for prizes and the World famous KONO Hi-Lo for Cash!!!
Before radio, Robin served in the United States Coast Guard. He was retired with benefits after being injured during his service. He states: “It was my honor to serve, and I love living in Military City, USA, shopping the commissary at Ft. Sam and visiting our wounded warriors at BAMC”.
Robin is also a Cancer survivor and has been Cancer free since 2016. He will tell you that he counts his blessings every morning and thanks his audience for waking up with him on the KONO Morning Show. “I’m living the dream!” ‘You’ll never know how grateful I am to be starting each new day with you”!
You can listen to Robin Flores Morning’s 5:30 to 10am having fun playing San Antonio’s Greatest Hits on KONO 101.1.
I’ve always been a fan of the Trans-Siberian Orchestra, the amazing musical project that combines rock, classical, and holiday music into a spectacular show. I was thrilled when I got the chance to interview Al Pitrelli, the lead guitarist and musical director of TSO, ahead of their concert at the AT&T Center on December 9th.
With so much negative in the world, Robin and KONO 101.1 are bringing you some light and happiness to brighten your day!
