During the COVID-19 pandemic, the Comptroller encourages all taxpayers to continue practicing social distancing and support Texas businesses while saving money on tax-free purchases of most clothing, footwear, school supplies and backpacks (sold for less than $100) during the annual Tax-Free weekend. To promote social distancing, the Texas Comptroller’s office wants all taxpayers to know that during the Tax-Free Weekend, you can buy qualifying items online or by telephone, mail, custom order or any other means (including in-store purchases) tax free, when either.

RECOVERED FROM COVID-19? HELP BY DONATING PLASMA.

The South Texas Blood & Tissue Center is participating in a U.S. Food and Drug Administration (FDA) investigational program for blood centers to begin collecting and distributing convalescent plasma from individuals who have recovered from COVID-19. While COVID-19 currently has no proven treatment, it is possible that convalescent plasma, which contains antibodies to the virus that causes COVID-19, may provide passive immunity to certain patients with severe forms of the illness. Potential donors must be completely free of symptoms for 14 days prior to donation

Hire Heroes USA career fair to take place Aug. 13 from 9 a.m. to 2 p.m. A virtual career fair offered by Hire Heroes USA will take place next Thursday to help San Antonio-area veterans connect with local job recruiters. The career fair will take place Aug. 13 from 9 a.m. to 2 p.m. The event will provide a safe and convenient way for candidates -- transitioning service members, veterans and military spouse job seekers -- to find a new career during the COVID-19 pandemic.
